Hello, I’m Bill Bates; the owner and operator of 1428 Systems. I have had a passion for the inner workings of things since I was a small child. Initially it started with a yard sale acquired toaster, as soon as I got it home I disassembled it and plugged it in to see how the bimetallic strip operated to toast the bread.
Then in 1981 my family acquired our first computer, a Commodore VIC-20, and I was off and running. Completely enamored with the world of possibility at my fingertips I dove headfirst in to programming manuals and hardware documentation and started building accessories to interface with it (crude light and temperature sensors, etc) and programming my own games in 6502 assembly code.
Many years have passed since that wonderful morning that I opened the giant silver box that housed my beloved VIC, but my passion has never dulled.
